Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt have emerged the winner of this year’s Women’s Federation Cup after defeating Bayelsa Queens FC in the final played at the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos.
Rivers Angels won 5-3 on penalties after 1-1 at the regulation time.
Interestingly, it was Bayelsa Queens that took the lead after just 18minutes as Rafiat Sule put them in front but Rivers Angels drew level before half-time courtesy Osinachi Ohale.
The second half was tight as both side failed to create any more openings and it ended 1-1 during regulation time.
In the penalty shootout, Lilian Cole missed a vital kick for Bayelsa Queens which handed advantage to Rivers Angels and Amarachi Ojinma stepped up and blasted the ball past the goalkeeper to hand Rivers Angels the win.
Rivers Angels have now won the Federations Cup for a record seventh time. The Nation
