Daredevil robbers descended on Douglas road, Owerri yesterday in broad daylight, dispossessing a man of his N4, 500,000 and shooting him in the process.
The victim withdrew the said amount from Douglass road branch of Skye bank. It’s believed that the robbers must have trailed him from inside the bank’s bulk room when he withdrew the bulk money.
He barely stepped outside the bank premises when one of the robbers quickly accosted him and demanded that he give up the money. He refused and struggle ensued. The man resisted all efforts to dispossess him off his money. It was after one of the robbers, who was wearing a white T shirt and a faded blue jeans, started to shoot indiscriminately into the air and later shot the man in the leg that he let go off the cash. The gang took the money and drove off through Onumiri street in a Toyota Camry, and shooting more shots into the air which sent many passersby scampering for their safety. No one knows the fate of the victim who was shot as at the time of going to press.
